Market and business trends in 2021
Fiscal 2021 was a successful year for Melitta South America: as well as raising sales volumes and capturing further market share in the coffee segment, the operating division achieved record sales volumes in its filter paper business. The decisive factor for this positive development in both segments was the division’s enhanced market presence in several regions of Brazil. However, this positive development was slowed somewhat by the challenging economic conditions faced by the South American country as a result of the pandemic.
Melitta South America expects that the adverse economic environment in Brazil will continue to depress consumer spending in 2022. Despite these challenges, however, the operating division anticipates a further increase in sales volumes across all segments. In order to achieve this goal, the division will continue to expand the footprint of its brands, launch new products, and take steps to ensure its supply capability and product availability. Melitta South America will also focus on raising efficiency and improving cost management.
