Our strategy
In its core business of vacuum cleaner bags, Wolf PVG plans to maintain its leading position in the European core markets over the long term and to expand it in certain regions. The topics of brand management, digitalization, and sustainability all play an important role in these efforts. In order to counter the creeping decline in demand in this segment, new areas of expertise are to be developed and the business model placed on a broader footing. The first steps in this direction have been taken and further projects are currently being reviewed.
Market and business trends in 2021
Sales of vacuum cleaner bags were generally successful for both Wolf PVG and its Polish subsidiary Worwo in 2021. The B2B segment in particular performed very well in the past fiscal year. In the Benelux region, a new initiative for cordless vacuum cleaners with a new type of bag was launched in late 2021. By contrast, the private label business and the newly launched marketing of meltblown materials to European mask manufacturers fell short of expectations. Availability issues and massive price increases for raw materials proved challenging in 2021. The efficiency drive launched in 2019 with targeted investments in production was continued in 2021.
Outlook 2022
For the fiscal year 2022, Wolf PVG expects the stable development of its core business with vacuum cleaner bags under the Swirl®, HandyBag®, and Worwo® brands to continue. The operating division is planning to launch a new, even more sustainable generation of bags in this segment and will expand its range of special bags for robot vacuum cleaners. Further development is also planned for the new product segment of cordless battery-powered vacuum cleaners under the Swirl® Quinyo® brand. In the B2B segment, innovations are being implemented at both the product and production levels; this segment will also focus on the design of sustainable solutions. In the field of meltblown materials, the operating division plans to expand its business with European mask manufacturers and to tap new application fields in other industries.
